Eyes closed

Sometimes that all you can do in a situation is close your eyes and call out to God. I’ve learned that a lot over the course of this journey, but I need to continue to be reminded.

Lately it has been one of those times where there is not much that I can physically do; except to close my eyes and call out to God. God knows my heart, God knows my journey, God knows my needs, and He calls me child. He is all that I need.

Though the world and it’s evil ways may rush against me, I find my comfort in the solitude of prayer and praying with others. The world and people around me don’t define me, God does. The world doesn’t dictate if I’m ready, if I’m qualified, if I’m doing what is right or wrong, God does. In the end, God is the only one that matters. I can’t change the ways of the world, but I can love the way that God loves me. Through God’s love I can give my love to the poor, the orphaned, the hurting and the broken in hopes to make the slightest difference in their lives. I won’t change the world, but I pray that I can be love for the ones God puts in my path.

I was fortunate to be able to spend the morning in pray and worship today as Grace Church had a time for prayer and fasting this morning—of course God knew I needed this today—He knows my every need! J

As I closed my eyes and laid everything before the Lord and listened to the voices around me shouting their praises I was overcome with peace and could feel the presence of the Lord as the tears strolled down my face. My God knows me. He cares for me. He is all I need. What an assurance to be able to reset in.

The scripture verses that they read this morning we also exactly what God knew I needed to hear.
Psalm 46
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth.[b] A song.
God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Come and see what the Lord has done,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease
    to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields[d] with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Psalm 91

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.”

He is my Refuge and Strength! The LORD is with me!

So I ask for your prayers. I ask that God would move mountains, that God would soften hearts, that God’s plan would prevail, that the orphaned would be loved, the elderly would be cared for and the sick would be healed. I ask that if my desires are not God’s will that He would change my heart. I lay all my worries, fears, frustrations, desires and dreams at that Lords feet and know and trust that HE is my Refuge and Strength!

I encourage you if you are feeling weighted down by the world take time to close your eyes and spend some time in prayer and reread Psalms 46 and 91. If God is for us who can be against us!

He is my Refuge and Strength!

Psalm 62:1-2, “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

you know your back in Haiti when... ;)

So last Wednesday I returned to Haiti! It has been a bittersweet transition but I am filled with JOY to be back in this place I love and to see all the people I love so dearly!

Upon returning I was quickly reminded of my need for patience. I had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes to get through the immigration line because they only had 2 booths open for "visitors" to pass through! UGH It was torcher!  Thankfully I flew down with my dear friend Katie so I had someone to stand in line with!

I think I had forgot briefly how crazy the roads and drivers are! I was quickly reminded! Pray every time you enter the car! :)

The other night I had to get something out of one of our storage closets...it was dark I was using my phone as my flashlight...I grabbed something and before I knew it I was screaming, "aahhh it's a mouse!"  and jumping (even though the mouse had been on the shelf) and trying to run out! Welcome back to this country I love!

This morning we ran out of our jug of culligan water so I headed down the stairs to get another one, not thinking anything of it. We store them in an open area where we also put suitcases when teams come until we can organize the donations. As I went to go move things around to get a jug of water, once again I shrieked. There it was a lovely scorpion! I haven't seen a live one of them in a long time! So I ran upstairs to get the bug killer and spray it. It of course moved and I had to move things around to find it. After spraying it it didn't die, but continued to scurry under everything. As I had to continue to move everything, cringing every time, I finally took a big box of black garbage bags and threw it down as hard as I could on top of it! (Lucky for you I didn't even take a picture! Although I could probably take one of the dead body but I'll spare you!) ;)

I think I've had my fair share of "welcome home" instances and am now settled in and feel at home! :)  You would think after living in Haiti for about 2 years one would get used to the little critters of Haiti life.

Regardless, I am truly blessed and happy to be back serving and loving on the people that God continues to put in my path and I can't wait to see all that He is doing in me and through me.

A new beginning to an exciting journey...

                         Anchored in Hope....

About a year ago I was given a small anchor pendant to put on my necklace from my dear friend Karla. Unfortunately it didn't fit on my necklace and I wasn't able to wear it. At the time I didn't give much thought to what the anchor really meant to me, but loved the pendant.

Awhile back my friend Katie gave me a suggestion to have an anchor made out of metal art. She told me that anchors were starting to become popular but also reminded me of the verse in Hebrew 6:19 "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." After I had them made I had several people ask what the meaning of the anchor was. To be honest it was hard for me to explain.

But in the last couple months God has continually put "Anchored in Hope" on my heart. It was one of those thoughts that came to me but I quickly brushed it off because I didn't feel equipped or qualified (and trust me I still don't!!) But God continued to impress it on my heart.

So with that I stepped out in faith and God showed up. God had given me a desire to create a small business to sell the Hand-Made Haitian Metal (and hopefully other Haitian made items in the future).  I struggled with God and continual said, "But God I don't know anything about business or setting up an LLC." So God gently reminded me I don't have to have all the answers I need to have faith and trust that He will provide and if this is truly God's desire for my life, HE will provide.
And of course GOD DID PROVIDE.  God continued to put people in my path. Through a friend he connected me with a lawyer who offered to create a LLC for me for free and has continued to be a great resource. He has put amazing woman in my life at Art 2 Heart who continue to support and guide me. He connected me with an amazing woman at Single Stone Studios who offered to create a logo for me for free and designs some of the pieces of artwork. He has given me amazing friends, family and acquaintances who have stepped up and said they want to help out however they can. I had to take the first step, but GOD SHOWED UP and continues to show up in amazing ways.
God has been at work and I'm excited to tell you that  ANCHORED IN HOPE LLC. has been established!

The mission of Anchored in Hope is to empower Haitian artisans to provide for their families with dignity. Our desire is to inspire hope for a better tomorrow through our reliance on the anchor that we have in Jesus Christ.

This world is a raging sea and every believer is like a ship on this journey through life. As long as Jesus is our captain we have hope as our anchor. This anchor while out of sight at the bottom of the sea is what keeps us steady through all of life's storms and trials. We have this Anchor and Hope no matter what life brings our way.

Our needs:
-Business Cards
-Postcards to be attached to each item sold
-Stores that are willing to sell our items
-Financial donations
-Prayer for wisdom, direction and connections to be made.

If you are able to help us out with any of these needs or want to become more involved with Anchored in Hope please email us at anchoredinhopehaiti@gmail.com

I recently came across this song and the words are beyond fitting for what we desire with "Anchored in Hope"
 Christ is our Hope. He is our Everything. He is our Anchor in the storm.

"Anchored" by Hillsong

"Anchor"
I have this hope
As an anchor for my soul
Through every storm
I will hold to You

With endless love
All my fear is swept away
In everything
I will trust in You

There is hope in the promise of the cross
You gave everything to save the world You love
And this hope is an anchor for my soul
Our God will stand
Unshakeable

Unchanging One
You who was and is to come
Your promise sure
You will not let go

Your Name is higher
Your Name is greater
All my hope is in You

Your word unfailing
Your promise unshaken
All my hope is in You
